My image of who Rolle would be "in my movie"

January, 2009 - ANTITHESIS (Twilight)

"In the province of the mind, what one believes to be true either is true or becomes true."

A vampire assassin? Isn't that redundant? How could Edward possibly befriend anyone who claims to be an assassin? But there's more behind the friendly facade than just a love of music that drew Edward to the heart-broken assassin. When, after 10 years of marriage, that same friend appears to tell Edward and Bella the Volturi have growing suspicions of the Cullen's intentions and power, the family may be in more danger than they suspect. If there was anything you'd want to have when the Volturi come knocking, it would be a powerfully devoted friend with a few tricks up his sleeve. Even if he doesn't know it himself.

From the Author: So, about "Antithesis"... The story starts at the end of "Twilight" for a couple chapters, then jumps to a (slightly) AU after "Breaking Dawn." It's about 10 years past BD, and really the only thing AU about it is that I haven't included Renesmee. I just don't feel we got to know her well enough, and I never got a sense of her relationship with everyone, her being a baby and all. To be honest, while I thought she was novel and sweet and cute and was the end result of some really incredible drama, the "Twilight" story has always been a love-story involving Edward and Bella. So that's what I like to write about.

I've been fascinated with the 'other side of' a relationship like theirs. What happens when you've found what you've spent a lifetime searching for, and then lose it? Hence, I introduce Rolle. He lost his true love and that loss has shattered him, just as it almost shattered Edward. Now broken and damned, Rolle's fractured mind has tried to make it easier for him to survive without the woman he loved. (Survival being a relative term.) When he sees what Edward and Bella have together, he pledges that they will never suffer that kind of loss, even if that means staying away from his friends... until he hears a rumor of suspicion that will bring the Volturi to the Cullen's doorstep once again.

I'm giving a special nod to LolaShoes and her stories "Let Your Light Shine" and "An Extraordinary Life" here, and borrowing a couple aspects of her stories for use in "Antithesis" for a little continuity: Edward's artistic abilities, how he came to terms with his ability as a newborn vampire and their Midnight till Six time together. Of all the fiction I've read, LolaShoes' insight into Edward and Bella's life together after BD has inspired me the most. She gave me the substance to reflect on everything Rolle is trying to protect. You could probably say that "Antithesis" is not only Twilight FF, but also LolaShoes FF.

This is my tribute to those who love the Love Story.
