It's official

I will be LolaShoes beta for "This Hungry World." . I can't begin to express the honor I feel to be able to do this. I have always thought of Lola's work to be a sort of canon for my own stories, giving Rolle the real reason he's protecting Edward and Bella. Sadly, Stephenie Meyer dropped the ball in "Breaking Dawn" for me.

Lo... I'm humbled beyond words.

How do you find fiction to read?

When I first started looking for FF, I found a forum on Twilight Lexicon where I found a "Recommended Fan Fiction" forum. That's where I started anyway.
http://forum.twilightlexicon.com/viewtopic.php?f=29&t=473

Once I was there, I found another link and went to the "Missing Scenes" Community in FanFiction.net. In particular, I wanted to find the missing honeymoon. This was my 2nd foray into finding the type of stories I really wanted.

Once I found a handful of authors I liked, and who wrote the kinds of stories I personally liked, I looked at THEIR favorite stories lists, and THEIR favorite authors. I was going on the assumption that if we might have similar likes and dislikes based on the stories they wrote. That was the biggest benefit to finding stories that I enjoyed the most.

Becoming more voracious, I next started checking into the author's profiles. Based on their A/Notes (where they often listed about winning awards) I started checking the award sites, which gave me another big list of favorite stories and authors and then I went back to reading THEIR faves again.

Then I started discovering the stories on Adult Fan Fiction
http://books.adultfanfiction.net/main.php?list=2065

Which, oddly enough led me to Twilighted where an author said there were more stories. While I like Twilighted, I have some issues with their layout and background. It's beautiful, but too hard to read, and too hard to access from a hand-held device. What I really DO like about Twilighted, though, are the forums which are more active and fun than Twilight Lexicon and a few others I've investigated. But as a story site, Twilighted doesn't let me see my favorite author's personal favorite stories.

So Twilighted for forums, but FanFiction.net for stories and the ability to find other new stories based on the favorites marked by my favorite authors. So it's important to use your Favorite Authors and Favorite Stories tabs to help other readers find the stories you like.

For example.... I saw LolaShoes tweet about a story called VR, so I checked her "favorite stories" link and found it. It's called "Volterra Rocks." This is a good case of how readers can find stories. BE SURE TO MARK YOUR FAVORITES AND FAVORITE AUTHORS.

My reading triangle

Hello. My name is gkkstitch and I am a picky fiction reader.

First, it should be a vampire story (that's why it's called Twilight fiction, and not "A couple folks named Edward and Bella" fiction) -- although there are and have been several AH stories I'm enjoying. Still, I set them aside when a good vampire twilight story comes out.

Second, Edward has to be with Bella, and Bella has to be with Edward. So adding Tanya, Jacob, or slashing any thereof instantly ruins it for me (again with very rare exception -- and there are 1 or 2 exceptions).

Third, and farther down the list but every bit the icing on the cake for me, is HEA and lemons. So if you know of any stories like that, DEFINITELY send 'em my way. heh heh heh.

So if a story has any TWO of these three criteria, I'll happily give them a shot.

Okay, it's official

There will be a sequel to "Antithesis."

The new story will be called "Absolucion." It will be thick in plot and be rated-M for necessary lemons. It will be written in 3rd person subjective and will have a ensemble cast. I have 8 chapters outlined so far.

Here's a teaser from the prologue.....

1960
Constanta, Romania

A scream of rage and pain. The sound of footsteps in flight. Tendrils of dust curling in the vacuum created by a panicked escape.

It wasn't supposed to be like this.

They had waited so long for their chance. They thought they had finally found the one thing that would begin to tip the stars in their favor, and yet Vladimir lay stunned on the old hardwood floor with Stefan's wide burgundy eyes staring down at him in disbelief.

The antediluvian looked down at his body and his mouth fell open in shock. His left arm and shoulder were gone as well as half of his torso where they had been attached.

Their experiment had gone horribly, horribly wrong.

January, 2009 - ANTITHESIS (Twilight)

"In the province of the mind, what one believes to be true either is true or becomes true."

A vampire assassin? Isn't that redundant? How could Edward possibly befriend anyone who claims to be an assassin? But there's more behind the friendly facade than just a love of music that drew Edward to the heart-broken assassin. When, after 10 years of marriage, that same friend appears to tell Edward and Bella the Volturi have growing suspicions of the Cullen's intentions and power, the family may be in more danger than they suspect. If there was anything you'd want to have when the Volturi come knocking, it would be a powerfully devoted friend with a few tricks up his sleeve. Even if he doesn't know it himself.

From the Author: So, about "Antithesis"... The story starts at the end of "Twilight" for a couple chapters, then jumps to a (slightly) AU after "Breaking Dawn." It's about 10 years past BD, and really the only thing AU about it is that I haven't included Renesmee. I just don't feel we got to know her well enough, and I never got a sense of her relationship with everyone, her being a baby and all. To be honest, while I thought she was novel and sweet and cute and was the end result of some really incredible drama, the "Twilight" story has always been a love-story involving Edward and Bella. So that's what I like to write about.

I've been fascinated with the 'other side of' a relationship like theirs. What happens when you've found what you've spent a lifetime searching for, and then lose it? Hence, I introduce Rolle. He lost his true love and that loss has shattered him, just as it almost shattered Edward. Now broken and damned, Rolle's fractured mind has tried to make it easier for him to survive without the woman he loved. (Survival being a relative term.) When he sees what Edward and Bella have together, he pledges that they will never suffer that kind of loss, even if that means staying away from his friends... until he hears a rumor of suspicion that will bring the Volturi to the Cullen's doorstep once again.

I'm giving a special nod to LolaShoes and her stories "Let Your Light Shine" and "An Extraordinary Life" here, and borrowing a couple aspects of her stories for use in "Antithesis" for a little continuity: Edward's artistic abilities, how he came to terms with his ability as a newborn vampire and their Midnight till Six time together. Of all the fiction I've read, LolaShoes' insight into Edward and Bella's life together after BD has inspired me the most. She gave me the substance to reflect on everything Rolle is trying to protect. You could probably say that "Antithesis" is not only Twilight FF, but also LolaShoes FF.

This is my tribute to those who love the Love Story.
