Absolución teaser from chapter 8

"What is it?" Vladimir asked quietly.

Stefan set the phone down slowly staring at it, his brow drawing down with concern. He did not look at his brother.

"What has happened?" Vladimir asked.

Stefan raised his eyes slowly: blood-hungry dark red stared into blood-full red. He answered with a single word that held a thousand words and worries. "Eleazar."

"Eleazar?" Vladimir repeated. "He's had news of the boy?"

Stefan nodded slowly. "He's been with Carlisle this past month."

Stefan reached out and put his hand on Vladimir's arm. "He attacked him. Marcus was present during the attack. We were right. It was Marcus who turned the boy. The Cullens turned Rolle over to him at his betrayal." Stefan looked meaningfully into the face of his companion. "Marcus took the boy back to Italy with him."

Vladimir staggered back a step and fell heavily into a thick wooden chair. "We are lost," he whispered. "Call Eleazar," he said, his voice low and commanding. "Ask him to make the arrangements for our introduction. We must speak to Carlisle ourselves. We must discover the circumstances of this attack." Vladimir strode urgently to the desk in the other room. "I'll make arrangements for our flight. We leave immediately."

"What if we were wrong about Carlisle? What if he refuses to see us?" Stefan asked.

Vladimir's tone was sharp and intractable. "We're going anyway."

Absolución teaser from chapter 7

"Bella mentioned something the other day." He looked around at each of them now. "When I left her in Forks, doing what I thought was right, would you all agree that I was woefully wrong?"

"Hell yes!" Emmett said loudly.

"Of course," Jasper agreed.

Edward nodded, knowing this was their feeling already. "And if you had to do it all over again, would you let me leave?" he asked, looking now to Carlisle, knowing already how hard that separation was, not only on Bella and himself, but also on the entire family, especially Carlisle.

Carlisle sighed softly. "I would have done more to convince you how wrong you were."

"And if you couldn't?" Edward pressed. "If I left anyway, would you have come after me?"

A quiet tension filled the treetops as both Emmett and Jasper bit their tongues and simply waited for Carlisle to answer.

Their patriarch sighed softly. "Yes."

Edward did not nod or make any other motion to acknowledge he'd won this debate. Instead he said, "Would you agree that maybe we should try to learn from that mistake?"

Carlisle looked thoughtful and considered everything Edward was trying to say. This is hard for me right now, he thought to Edward.

"I know," Edward said gently. "I just need you to consider it. What Rolle is doing is noble, but... wrong."

My take on "venom" in Twilight

Frankly, in my opinion, fic writers take this too far. Stephenie Meyer made a big fuss about "venom" actually entering the blood stream, so that's all I do with it. Open mouth kissing doesn't let venom get into your bloodstream. I'm just careful to not let french kissing go too far. I'm sure Edward would have been pretty insistent on that before he agreed to change Bella. Their teeth are just too sharp, and even a little scratch could be dangerous.

If fic writers are going to let themselves get hung up on french kissing, but then allow the characters to have sex, they're creating a paradox. If a vampire is having intercourse with a virgin, it seems to me that there's a greater than normal chance that venom is going to be entering the bloodstream thru the tearing of the hymen. So why make such a big distinction about kissing?

That being said, I think the best exploration of venom was done by LolaShoes in "Let Your Light Shine." On the more sensitive skin on your body, venom 'tingles' and can create other... hmmm... 'side effects' during moments of elevated heart rate and breathing. See for yourself:

Absolución teaser from chapter 6

He spun her around to face him and she lunged into him just as the elevator doors disappeared behind him. The distance to his arms and lips increased as they staggered though the now open door. They fell across the hall and his back hit the wall with a huff and a moan before her lips finally connected with his. She clenched his hair in her hands to keep him from getting away again. Both of his hands gripped her ass, pulling her even tighter to him.

They weren't going to last long at this rate.

Using my blog for easier navigation

From a reviewer....

One question (I think I'm going for one random question per review at this rate), why is it called Absolucion? Because I know that AbsoluTion is the forgiveness in the sacrament of reconciliation, and absolución is the same, but in spanish, but is this the reason it's called that?

I knew I wanted the title to be Absolution, but when I checked FanFic there were already 20 other stories with that title. I put a call out to some old fan-friends of mine about what they suggest I do, and one of them found this dictionary definition...

I've always LOVED researching the history of words, so I decided to use the original spelling of the word instead of the contemporary spelling. :) It made sense to me as it expressed a personal fascination of mine, as well as linking the story to the past as Chapter 2 does.

And... on a purely selfish note... it makes my story easier to search for by spelling it differently. heh heh
